7th Annual Anderson Island Writing Retreat

Thanks to the support of Island Arts, this past week, we were able to hold another successful Anderson Island Writing Retreat – our 7th! We were fortunate to have two seasoned English professors lead this year’s retreat. Colette Tennant, who had over 30 years of experience in teaching poetry, guided the group in writing poetry and prose poems, with creative prompts that brought out amazing work from participants. Our second instructor, Gina Oschner, an accomplished fiction author, taught the group over the three days a variety of methods to approach writing both fiction and creative non-fiction. We were able to share writings generated during the retreat, with participants ranging in age from early 30’s to late 80’s, both instructors remarking at the level of talent that we have on our island.

Overall is was another successful and encouraging retreat, with most being repeat Anderson Island Retreat participants. Thank you again, to Island Arts for your continued support of the writing community here on Anderson Island!
