Rural Sketchers Project at Anderson Island School

Greetings Islanders,

Just to let you know, the first art class by Island Arts and funded by the Pierce County Arts Commission just wrapped up. It was a rural sketchers class that was a 6-week course offered to the students of Anderson Island Elementary School. The course included instruction on how to sketch on location using a sketch journal, pencil, pen and basic watercolor methods. The students learned about sketching, line, perspective and the use of watercolor for shading. All supplies and instruction were provided by Island Arts and costs were covered by the grant. The students showed great interest in the arts and we hope to see more of our Island artists working to bring the arts to the school in the future.
