What is this event?

After a hiatus during COVID, the Studio Tour returned in 2025, attracting more than 140 visitors over two days curious to see our island artist & artisans in their native habitat. Each studio brought their own flair to the day, with some opening up their devoted studios while others brought their craft and works into wider spaces on their property. Many artists shared studio space, allowing visitors to see an array of mediums in one place. Many had active art projects in progress during the show. The connecting thread through this event was that every location offered a unique vision of how art is created and shared.

What is the commitment to participate?

This year, we’re making a few modifications to make this event more accessible to artists. Here’s the scoop:

  • Shorter hours: This year, the tour will run from 12-4pm on both days. Our hope is that it tightens up the space between visitors and keeps the event from pushing into dinner time.
  • Option to show one or both days: We’re allowing artists to open their studios for only one of the two days, offering flexibility to those who can’t participate both days.
  • Provide marketing materials: We ask that you provide a brief bio and description of your studio, as well as digital photos of your work. These materials will be used to create the website, social media and event marketing materials…and your only commitment is to review the material for errors!
  • Planning meeting: We encourage registered artists to join us a few weeks before the event for a planning meeting, where we share info, brochures and signs for the event. It’s an informative meeting and gives artist a chance to share ideas, ask questions, and get the lay of the land. If you can’t make it, we can make arrangements to get you the materials you need for the event.
  • Artist preview: For those who want to participate, we’ve added the tradition of creating a preview of the tour on the Friday before the event so the artists don’t miss out on seeing the studios for themselves. Plus, it gives artists a chance to do a dry-run of setting up their studio and gives you a sense of how long it takes to get set up for the day.
  • Event days: Each studio operates independently and the tour is self-guided. This is your chance to tell the story of your art, inspiration and process. Artists have found that it’s very helpful to have assistants (friends / family) or share studio space with other artists, creating a more collaborative environment to “mind the shop,” as it were.
